Reps Fitness

🧩 The Concept

With the closure of gyms during the COVID-19 pandemic, millions turned to home fitness. The internet was flooded with content β€” yet discovering high-quality workouts from trusted trainers became overwhelming. As a fitness enthusiast myself, I experienced this friction first-hand.

Reps is a mobile app designed to solve that problem: a curated platform that consolidates the best workout videos and fitness creators into one easy-to-navigate experience β€” tailored to user preferences, skill level, and available equipment.

Core Skills: User Research, UX Strategy, Wireframing & Prototyping, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Design Systems

Tools: Figma, Miro, UserTesting.com

🎯 Objective

Build a simple, effective tool to help users:

  • Quickly discover quality workouts
  • Filter by skill level, equipment, and focus area
  • Save favourites and follow trusted trainers

Value Proposition

The fastest way to discover quality home workouts that match your fitness level and lifestyle.”

πŸ‘₯ User Personas

To guide feature priorities and design decisions, I created provisional personas:

  • Fitness Enthusiast β€” wants varied, challenging routines and loves structure
  • Fitness Coach β€” wants to share workouts and grow an online following

These personas helped define the experience from both sides: the content consumer and content creator.

🧭 User-Centered Business Canvas

Using a Miro board, I mapped user pains, goals, and opportunities alongside business considerations like monetization (e.g. freemium model, creator revenue share). This clarified the core value for both users and the business.

🧾 MVP Features

The Minimum Viable Product (MVP) focused on simplicity and real utility:

  • Individual workout pages with embedded video + quick stats
  • Save to favourites
  • Follow trainers

πŸ’‘ Nice-to-Haves

✍️ Wireframing

I started with low-fidelity wireframes to explore layout and user flows:

  • Onboarding for fitness goals
  • Browse page with smart filters
  • Workout detail with call-to-action
  • Profile & favourites

These wireframes helped validate the navigation logic and content hierarchy before moving into UI.

🎨 Style Guide

The visual design draws inspiration from modern fitness brands β€” energetic, clean, and bold.

Typography: Bold sans-serif for strength and clarity

Colour palette:

  • Primary: Electric blue (energy + trust)
  • Accent: Warm coral red (motion + action)
  • Neutrals: Off-white backgrounds, charcoal grey text

UI Components: Rounded cards, full-width buttons, icon-based filters

Tone: Encouraging, straightforward, no-frills

βœ… Outcome

Reps is a concept rooted in real-world need and shaped through a user-first lens. The project deepened my experience in defining MVPs, balancing user and business goals, and building scalable design systems for content-rich mobile platforms.
