🎯 The Concept

Inspired by a passion for sports betting and competitive social dynamics, Versus addresses the question: how can we make betting-style prediction games more fun, social, and repeatable? The platform is a daily pick game where players answer head-to-head sports questions — lightweight, fast, and repeatable, ideal for daily engagement.

Value proposition: Daily sports picks. Compete with friends. No odds, no cash — just bragging rights.

🔍 My Approach

  • Market Research — analysed existing pick'em and betting platforms (ESPN, DraftKings, BetBull) to identify gaps in casual social engagement
  • Problem Framing — most platforms are either too serious or too complicated; Versus aims to be the opposite: fun, intuitive, and frictionless
  • User Testing — validated the concept and UI via UserTesting.com, focusing on onboarding, game understanding, and social motivation
  • UX Design — wireframed full flows including onboarding, daily picks, league management, and result screens, emphasising simplicity and visual clarity
  • UI Design — a bold, energetic, mobile-first interface that felt fun but trustworthy

🧩 Key Features

  • ✍️ Daily Head-to-Heads — new picks every day across multiple sports
  • 👫 Leagues with Friends — custom mini-leagues for banter and bragging rights
  • 🧠 Light Strategy, High Fun — no money needed, just knowledge, intuition, and good picks
  • 📱 Built for Mobile — tap-friendly UI and quick decision loops

💡 Outcome

The project crystallised a long-held idea into a validated and designed product concept. Key learnings include lightweight gamification, designing for habit loops, and balancing UX simplicity with engagement. It also facilitated conversations within the betting and fantasy sports space and provided a foundation for potential prototyping or pitching.
