Versus
🎯 The Concept
Inspired by my passion for sports betting and the social side of competition, Versus was built around a simple question:
How can we make betting-style prediction games more fun, social, and repeatable?
The result is a daily pick game where players answer questions like “Who will win?” or “Who will score more?” in head-to-head sports matchups. Whether competing globally or in private leagues with friends, the game format is intentionally lightweight, fast, and repeatable — ideal for daily engagement.
Role: Creator, Product Designer, UI/UX Designer
Tools: Figma, UserTesting.com
🔍 My Approach
Market Research: Analysed existing pick’em and betting platforms (e.g. ESPN, DraftKings, BetBull) to identify gaps in casual social engagement.
Problem Framing: Most platforms are either too serious or too complicated. Versus aims to be the opposite: fun, intuitive, and frictionless.
User Testing: Validated the concept and UI through UserTesting.com, focusing on new-user onboarding, game understanding, and social motivation.
UX Design:
- Wireframed full user flows including onboarding, daily picks, league management, and result screens
- Emphasised simplicity and visual clarity in each screen
UI Design:
- Developed a bold, energetic interface
- Designed for mobile-first experience
- Created a visual style that felt fun but trustworthy
Daily sports picks. Compete with friends. No odds, no cash — just bragging rights.
🧩 Key Features
✍️ Daily Head-to-Heads: New picks every day across multiple sports
👫 Leagues with Friends: Custom mini-leagues for banter and bragging rights

💡 Outcome
The project helped crystallise an idea I had toyed with for years into a validated and designed product concept. It sharpened my understanding of:
- Lightweight gamification
- Designing for habit loops
- Balancing UX simplicity with engagement
It also opened conversations with peers in the betting and fantasy sports space, and gave me a base to potentially prototype or pitch further.
If you’re looking for design support or think I’d be a great fit for a role I’d love to hear from you.
